Portfolio

Apart from my homestead projects, my portfolio consists of various energy and water supply solutions for friends and acquaintances. The silver lining of my portfolio is my believe that you should always strive to leave a place more beautiful than you found it. This means that we (both my friends and I) had to be adaptive, innovative and open-minded, but also prepared to make concessions to stay true to our values. The environment is the driving factor for my work that aspires to design successful integrated solutions that are built to last;

systems in harmony with nature.

Solar powered irrigation
"La Floresta"

The main features of this system are:

  • Three 550W solar panels

  • 750W VFD inverter

  • 370W 0.5HP waterpump (8 meter deep well)

+  Inexpensive and user-friendly

 -  Dependent on the weather conditions (only works during sunny days as it is a system without batteries).

Solar powered water filters for a rainwater collection pond "Centro los Maquis"

Same solar powered water pump system as at "La Floresta". This time, however, it is used to lift water from a pond into two barrels containing volcanic rocks. Here algae and other organic matter existent in the water will get trapped and eaten by beneficial bacteria that are living in the porous stones. Subsequently, the cleaned water finds its way back to the pond through a waterfall made out of recycled tiles.

Aeration system for a rainwater collection pond
"Centro los Maquis"

I installed a simple, quiet and energy efficient 220V air pump connected to two diffusers located on the bottom of the pond. The bubbles oxygenate and circulate the water, reducing algae growth, rotting, and evaporation.
